a rough education ☢
That’s when I knew it was true.
That’s when I knew. That’s when
I knew that’s the ruse you would use,
that dope jab-step move,
that quick pump-fake pass,
I shift, you look down, I stutter-step-p-p—
defensive antenna braiding,
legs tangling, interlacing—you laughin,
ankles breakin up, you crossin over
skatin past me—a slip-stream
break straight to the basket, and the last
slow-motion take on the big screen
is of you posterizing some fool,
and me, a look like
damn. It’s true.
This is national TV, and I just been schooled.
