two shadows

one decade
gone and genghis khan was back
and attacking
and taking heads.

ten more
years might’ve castled him caligula.
spared a passel outside
his harem.

in a mere
twenty jesus returned to be hoisted
up on wood, iron
and holy ghost fire a banner
so we all saw him
coming,

and that
before our inevitable first congenital
expression of high
horse ire.
