~❂ when dragons breathe ❂~
We fought, until red rocks glinted high
heat. Then, red friction taught me lust;
whispers hinting to instinct to trust, and
continue red-rush fever thrusting, as noreinforcements or water were coming.
I conceded no ground–red rivers
roared louder, drowning the sound
of all gods out, as I hallowed my Father. The dragon’s great head reared back
searing facts, and I knew fear then–yet
I stood tall, two hands clasped, aware that
the final stand was really here, at last. Then I attacked. The dragon reacted with
red plasma and the sky turned black. My
temples pulsed blue, then, I turned my back.
Once I trusted within…all dragons vanish *like that.

I used to play, when I was a child, that I fight dragons. I still remember those plays, alone, in my garden, and how I enjoyed slaughtering my imaginary dragons.
The adult battle seems so much more difficult but the dragons are mostly just as illusory.
Very cool poem, Jim!
Thank you Carrie! (:

You dragon slayer you!
With a blink and a thought, as the ever-wise Charlie Sheen once said.
Omg I love him 2 1/2 men! Please tell me you didn’t just quote Charlie!!! Too funny! Here’s mine “You can’t process me with a normal brain.” That’s funny! So me!
“I’m an F-18, bro”
Remind me to take cover if you do a fly over! You’re funny! Gotta love a dive bomber!
