I met a guy once
who didn’t know his ass from his eye.
Ask him anything and he’d lie.
I called him “bow-tie”,

and laughed at the colors.
Did worse than that
to the kick-sticker tacked to his back.
You kind of get that

anti-ignorance attack “thing”,
want some falseness to go down, happy,
and humbling to start happening.
I get all that.

But it is sad.
Every child, bad, no…good.
are captain-jacks sailing wild
winds out to sea,

and back again to child-hood.
Or maidens leaving me
for seafaring memories of them
seeing me waving

from land. Like, hey!
did you ever really hear me?
I wish I knew. I dont.
Bow-ties distract from the person

as whole.
Wanna get to know me? My soul?
better unravel more
than the minimum content

a bow-tie can wrap or hold.
